Advantages of Lithium-Iron Batteries:

Lithium itself is not toxic, and it does not bio-accumulate like lead or other heavy metals. 

A 2013 EPA report revealed that Li-based batteries using nickel or cobalt have the highest environmental impact due to resource depletion, ecological toxicity, and human health impacts.

Lithium-iron batteries are sealed, emit no gases, and require no maintenance.

LiFePO4 batteries, by contrast, have big advantages over other lithium chemistries:

• They utilize commonly available materials like copper, iron, and graphite, avoiding the use of rare earths or toxic metals.
